IWP's High School Internship Program offers students invaluable opportunities to explore potential career paths, and learn value employment skills.

The program centers around learning the fundamentals of construction, with a heavy emphasis on hands-on training in the field.

Experienced craftsman serving as mentors and guides, offering feedback, guidance, and support to promote the next generation.

What will I learn?

Technical Construction Skills

For two semesters, high school students work through a program centered around the NCCER Core curriculum, gaining exposure and training in a wide range of technical construction skills, and non-technical employment skills critical for any line of work.

  • Fundamentals of Construction with CORE

  • Forklifts

  • Intro to welding

  • Intro to Heavy Equipment

  • OSHA 10

Non-technical skills

Over the 12 weeks, our students work are trained on essential non-technical skills which they can carry into any line of work:

  • Post-Graduation Planning

  • Financial literacy

  • Professional Workplace Skills

  • Job Application Coaching

  • Group Discussion Skills

  • Critical thinking

FAQs

What you need to know

  • To enter the program, a student must be a Senior & on track to graduate

  • Can give up 3-4 Class Periods in the morning to attend

  • can have availability during the school day and school hours

  • currently in a Capstone Class

  • preferably no attendance or discipline issues
